Grouper - Heavy Water / I’d Rather Be Sleeping
Linda: ” My first choice is Grouper - I’m in New York at the moment and the last time I was here, I went to see Grouper play at Le Poisson Rouge in Greenwich Village. It had been humid for days and she took to the stage, all shy yet mesmerising - I get totally placed under a spell by the music and her ethereal voice. I walked outside and the sky opened into a massive thunderstorm, so I always think of that when I listen to Grouper now. “

Linda: ” I heard the music of Mmoths for the first time earlier this year and I immediately connected with it. So much, that Jack and I will work on some new music together. We have very similar tastes in music, and I love how saturated and immersive and dense and gorgeous this is, full of heart. “

Tropic of Cancer - Stop Suffering
Linda: ” I’ve heard the music of Tropic of Cancer be described as ‘spooky synth’ and this probably comes close to a lot of the music that I’ve loved growing up, from Cocteau Twins to Joy Division. This track has a dreamy gothic quality that I seem to be drawn towards in much of my listening. “

Sanjay: ” This was the first composition I heard of Linda’s. Released in 2011, Immersia is a three-part suite of ambient electronica. This first movement in particular is majestic, played on what sounds like a flanged synthesiser or mellotron. “

Jason Sharp - A Boat Upon its Blood (Pt 1)
Sanjay: ” This is a piece with a brooding sense of instability – rattling percussive clicks emerge from the crevices with a warm glow of electronic drone filling a barren soundscape. “

Rachel Grimes - The Air in Time
Sanjay: ” This is a gorgeous, stately composition that feels both connected to and completely removed from the current musical landscape. It has a pop-like structure to it, with clear delineation between verse, bridge and choruses that could easily be adapted to pure song form by an able lyricist and singer. “

Allison Cameron - 3rds, 4ths & 5ths
Sanjay: ” This is a nice bit of chromatic fantasia with a wind-chime feel and some subtle harmonica that gives way to a rather elegant violin-and-piano episode and flute passages. Allison Cameron’s music is spacious, introspective and hypnotic. ”
