This morning, we’re extremely grateful to celebrate our 600th episode! We’re humbled to have you with us for our weekly musical rendezvous. Recently, we’ve received messages from many of you sharing that you’ve been onboard for years, and what a heartwarming feeling that is!

Don’t hesitate to email us and share your feelings; it’s really beautiful. Whether you’ve been with us for a decade or just arrived, the difference isn’t so significant. As this decade has passed, life has moved on—some of us became parents, while others got busier with various commitments. It’s like a garden we’ve been sowing: it’s growing and flourishing, but it requires constant work and care. Yet, it’s also incredibly rewarding. What truly matters is that, at this very moment, as you’re reading this, we’re together. Maybe not simultaneously, but we’re sharing something meaningful and making it real.

As we craft these episodes—inviting inspiring guests, selecting music, illustrating, and writing—you’re here, activating it by listening, sharing it with loved ones, putting it on speakers, discovering artists, dancing, attending their concerts, supporting their art… This web of connection vibrates with energy, allowing it to exist and connecting us through music. It’s the universal language of the living, abstract vibrations in the air, composing rhythms enchanted by an infinite palette of sounds.

These vibrations make us feel alive and joyful. We are very honored to have Antoine Ferris with us this morning. Experimentation and improvisation are his fields of research. Pouring his imagination into his instruments, he brushes abstract mental landscapes that remind me of Gerhard Richter’s paintings. He mentioned he’s about to release an album soon, so be sure to keep an eye out for it.

And for now, let the music play as we embark on a journey through a beautiful forest of sounds and creation.

Guest’s selection

Lukas Koenig - Full Mantis (ft. Guilty Simpson)

Antoine Ferris: This track comes from drummer Lukas Koenig’s album 1 Above Minus Underground. It’s kind of an experimental hip-hop record, since every track has a different hip-hop guest on it. The whole album is amazing, but I picked this track because of Julien Desprez’s intro, he’s been an endless influence on how I approach music and my instrument. I also feel like this mix of styles is a great gateway into what we call “experimental music.”  I highly recommend checking out Mopcut as well, the group featuring Lukas Koenig, Julien Desprez, and Audrey Chen, as well as Dälek recently.

Mariam Rezaei - Going straight (and fucking it up)

Antoine Ferris: I’m a very big fan of Mariam Rezaei! Her latest album Fractured is incredible. I love her DJ work and the way she uses samples, something that has recently seeped into my own music. She also has a band with Lukas Koenig called The Sleep Of Reason Produces Monsters. That whole crew is kind of the Avengers of experimental music for me!

sús - Além do tempo

Antoine Ferris: Here we get another side of me, much more melancholic and more pop. I absolutely love autotune. And I love pop music. Again, I could have picked the whole album, but this song is just so beautiful! sús is one of those artists I never get tired of listening to.

ImaCrea’s selection

Antoine Ferris - Hount Orbe

ImaCrea: I discovered Antoine’s work thanks to Noémie, who beautifully illustrated this episode by the way. We were in the Pyrénées and Noémie joined us for a wonderful lunch watching the mountains and at some point she recalls of her friend Antoine and his great music. Suddenly the mountains looked differently, brighter and clearer. Small details shining from a distance… Since then, I kept listening to his music as something magical and wildly imaginative.

Meitei - San-no-yu / 参湯

ImaCrea: Water dripping from a natural slow cascade. Mountain is close, calmness of the onsen. I’ve heard many times about the revitalizing effect of onsen from people who’ve been in Japan, but never had a chance to get there myself yet. With this, I wanted to keep going with music able to create very detailed imaginary landscapes.

Vegyn - Stress Test

ImaCrea: I’ve became obsessed with Vegyn’s work lately. I listen again and again to all his albums. There’s a quality of sampling and composition that is really unique to him. It’s filled with many melodious elements from Timothy Duval whose I also love very much. Discovering Vegyn’s work reminds me of how I felt when I discovered Four Tet’s work back in the days.

Tortoise - Works and Days

ImaCrea: A legendary band back with a legendary album… This track goes particularly well after Stress Test I find. I feel like there’s somehow a similar abstract gaussian atmosphere, if anything like that exists.

That’s all for this morning! Special gratitude to Noémie Dijon for her stunning illustration, and to Antoine Ferris for joining us on Sunday and offering such a wild and great musical exploration.
